UK government scholarships
- Commonwealth Scholarships 2027 for Nigerians: Fully funded master’s and PhD in the UK. The Shared Scholarships route is open from 10 November; the Master’s and PhD routes closed on 20 October. Deadline: 8 December 2026.
- Chevening Scholarship for Nigerians: Fully funded one-year master’s. The 2027/28 round is closed; here is the results timeline and when the next round should open.
Fully funded master’s scholarships
- Edinburgh Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2027/28: Fully funded master’s at Edinburgh for Africans; for invited applicants. Deadline: 19 November 2026.
- Cambridge Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2027: Fully funded master’s at Cambridge for Africans. Deadline: 20 November 2026.
- Oxford Master of Public Policy 2027: Scholarships for Oxford’s MPP. Deadline: 2 December 2026.
- Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships 2027–28: Fully funded master’s at Oxford with leadership training. Deadline: 6 January 2027.
University scholarships (part of your fees)
- Bristol Think Big Scholarships 2027: £3,000 to £26,000 off fees for international undergraduates and postgraduates. Deadline: 19 March 2027.
- University of Lincoln Global Leaders Scholarship 2027–2028: 50% off tuition for international students. Deadline: 7 June 2027.
- Aberdeen Global Scholarship: Tuition support for international postgraduate students. Rolling applications.
Funded PhDs in the UK
- City St George’s PhD Studentships in Economics 2027: Four fully funded places in London, open to international students. Deadline: 30 November 2026.
- E5 DTP PhD Studentships 2027, University of Edinburgh: Fully funded environmental science PhDs. Deadline: 2 December 2026.
- Imperial College Business School Fully Funded PhD 2027: Fee waiver and stipend. Deadline: 2 December 2026.
- University of Exeter EPSRC PhD Studentships 2027: Fully funded PhDs in engineering, AI, physics and maths. Deadline: 8 December 2026.
- LSE MPhil/PhD in Demography 2027/28: Funded PhD in London. Deadline: 13 January 2027.
- LJMU Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarships 2027: Funded PhD in Liverpool for international students. Deadline: 29 January 2027.

Eligibility: who can apply, and what to check first
- Fully funded or part of the fees? Government and Mastercard Foundation awards cover everything; university scholarships like Bristol’s and Lincoln’s take money off tuition only.
- Check the route. Commonwealth Master’s and PhD applicants in Nigeria go through the Federal Ministry of Education’s Department of Scholarship Awards (formerly the Federal Scholarship Board); the Shared Scholarships go through the UK university.
- Apply only through the official page. Every guide links to the official application page. OpportunityLab never charges for applications.
