Hackathons

Find the latest hackathons for African youths: in-person and online coding competitions, innovation challenges and build sprints where you can win cash prizes, funding, mentorship and a fast track into tech careers.

Hackathons are one of the quickest ways to turn an idea into a working product. In a few days, you team up with other developers, designers and problem-solvers, build a solution to a real challenge, and pitch it to judges from companies, governments and investors. Many hackathons are open to beginners, students and non-coders. Designers, researchers, writers and business minds are often just as valuable to a team as programmers.

We list hackathons across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and the rest of Africa, plus virtual and international hackathons that accept African participants. They cover fintech, health, climate, agriculture, education, AI and civic tech.

Every listing explains who can apply, what you can win, key dates and the application deadline, and how to register, with a link to the official page. Check back often: new hackathons open every month, and the best ones fill up fast.
