Canada Scholarships for Nigerian Students 2027 (Updated November 2026)

Three young Nigerian professionals around a laptop, with the headline Canada scholarships for Nigerian students

These scholarships are for Nigerian and other international students who want to study in Canada. Most big Canadian entrance awards have fixed deadlines in the autumn and winter before you start, and several need your school to nominate you. Each entry links to our full guide, written from the university’s own page. We update this page every month.

Undergraduate scholarships open now (Fall 2027)

Master’s scholarships

Closed for 2027: plan for 2028

  • Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship (University of Toronto): four fully funded undergraduate years for about 37 students a year. Only your secondary school can nominate you, one student per school. Nominations for Fall 2027 closed on 9 October 2026; expect the Fall 2028 nomination deadline around October 2027.
  • Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships: no longer accepting applications. Its successor, the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Doctoral, pays CAD 40,000 a year, but international students must already be registered in a PhD at a Canadian university to apply.

Eligibility: who can apply, and what to check first

  • Ask your school early. Pearson, UBC’s International Scholars Program and York’s President’s Scholarship all need your secondary school to nominate you, often months before the deadline.
  • Apply for admission first. Most Canadian entrance awards need a university application number before you can apply for the scholarship.
  • Check what it covers. Some awards pay everything; others are a fixed amount off tuition.
  • Apply only through the official page. Every guide links to the official application page. OpportunityLab never charges for applications.
