This page explains how OpportunityLab finds, checks, writes and updates the opportunities we publish, so you know what you can rely on. OpportunityLab is run by FutureLabs Africa.
What we publish
Scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, trainings, competitions and hackathons that are open to young Africans, from credible organisers such as universities, foundations, governments, international organisations and established companies.
How we check an opportunity
- We find the organiser’s official announcement or application page and base the post on it, not on other blogs.
- We confirm who runs the opportunity, who can apply, what it offers and when it closes.
- We don’t publish opportunities that ask applicants to pay an individual or agent, that promise guaranteed money, or that we can’t trace to a real organiser.
How we write
Every post uses the same structure: what the opportunity is and who runs it, benefits, eligibility, deadline and key dates, and how to apply, with a link to the official page. We write in our own words, in plain English, for a reader who needs to decide quickly whether to apply.
Updates and closed opportunities
When an organiser changes a deadline or a detail, we update the post. When an opportunity has closed, we mark it as closed rather than deleting it, so the page stays useful for the next edition.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email [email protected] with the post link. We review corrections promptly and fix confirmed errors.
Independence and advertising
We choose what to publish based on usefulness to readers. Advertising, shown by third parties such as Google AdSense, does not influence our posts. Sponsored posts, if any, are clearly labelled. Read our disclaimer and privacy policy.
