About MESPOM
MESPOM is a joint master’s run by a consortium of four leading universities and supported by the EU’s Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus programme. It combines environmental science with policy and management, preparing graduates to work on real-world sustainability challenges in governments, international organisations, NGOs and the private sector. Students move between partner universities during the programme, gaining an international network and experience of different academic cultures.
Benefits
- A joint master’s degree from a consortium of respected European universities
- Study in several countries, including Austria, Greece, Sweden and the United Kingdom
- Financial aid for strong candidates: partial tuition fee waivers and living stipends from CEU and the MESPOM consortium
- Erasmus+ mobility support for some semesters, including for self-financing students
- A global alumni network working on environmental policy and sustainability worldwide
Important: MESPOM financial aid is partial and competitive. It is not a guaranteed full scholarship, so plan for the remaining costs. The programme’s funding page also lists outside scholarships and loans that students have used.
Eligibility
- A good bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). The call mentions a GPA of around 3.5 or higher.
- A degree in a relevant field is preferred, but other backgrounds are considered if you can show a strong commitment to environmental issues.
- English proficiency, shown with a recognised test score such as TOEFL or IELTS.
- Open to applicants of all nationalities.
Application Deadlines
| Applicant type | Deadline (23:59 CET) |
|---|---|
| Applying for financial aid, or from a visa-sensitive country | 7 January 2027 |

For most African applicants, the deadline is 7 January 2027, both to be considered for financial aid and because many African countries count as visa-sensitive.
