The Citizen AI Arts Fellowship invites artists and creatives to explore the connection between artificial intelligence, democracy, community, and public life.

Citizen AI Arts Fellowship benefits

Selected Fellows will receive:

Citizen AI Arts Fellowship structure

Year one: Collective inquiry

During the first year, Fellows will build a community of practice. They will share ideas, ask questions, test creative approaches, and engage with communities.

Together, they may explore:

Which values and safeguards should guide new technologies.
How creative work can make AI discussions more open and accessible.
How public participation can shape technology-related decisions.

Year two: Public engagement

Furthermore, the second year will focus on developing and testing the public initiative created during the first year.

Fellows may work with communities and partners to:

Build prototypes.
Gather feedback.
Improve the project.
Present the work in public spaces.

Year-one participants may continue into the second year. However, continuation is not guaranteed because it depends on the project’s direction and needs.
