The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is now accepting applications for the Just Tech Fellowship 2027, a unique opportunity created for individuals exploring how technology continues to shape our world. As technology becomes increasingly connected to everyday life, the need for thoughtful and innovative research has never been more important. Therefore, if your work exists at the intersection of technology and society whether through research, creative practice, journalism, or community engagement—this fellowship provides both the support and professional network needed to help take your ideas to the next level.
About the Just Tech Fellowship
The Just Tech Fellowship supports bold, original, and community-driven projects that examine the growing role of technology in public life. In addition, the program welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines, including researchers, artists, technologists, journalists, social scientists, and community practitioners. By bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, the fellowship aims to encourage deeper conversations about the future of technology and its impact on society.
At its core, the fellowship seeks to promote work that reimagines how technology is designed, governed, and experienced in ways that create a more inclusive and accountable society. Furthermore, fellows are selected based on their ability to contribute meaningful insights, creative thinking, and practical solutions to some of today’s most pressing technological challenges.
Whether you are analysing digital systems, developing tech-focused creative projects, or working directly with communities affected by emerging technologies, this fellowship is designed to amplify your work and expand its public impact. At the same time, it offers participants the opportunity to collaborate with other forward-thinking individuals who are equally committed to shaping a more just technological future.
