Is your startup building technology that could change the world for the better? The World Economic Forum (WEF) is now taking applications for its Technology Pioneers Program 2027. Each year, the Forum selects 100 early-stage companies from around the world and invites them into its global community for two years. Applications close on January 31, 2027.
About the WEF Technology Pioneers Program
The World Economic Forum is an international organisation that brings together leaders from business, government and civil society. Its Technology Pioneers Program spotlights young companies whose technology or business model could have a large, long-term positive effect on society and the planet.
Past Technology Pioneers have included companies that later became household names. As a result, the title carries real weight with investors, partners and the media.
Benefits of Becoming a Technology Pioneer
- Meet and work with top leaders from politics, business and culture
- Take part in WEF global meetings, workshops and events
- Join special gatherings for the Forum’s Innovator Communities
- Help shape discussions and projects on major global challenges
- Build ties with a worldwide network of innovative companies
- Gain global visibility through the WEF brand
Please note: this is a recognition and networking programme. It does not give out cash grants or investment.
Who Can Apply? Eligibility Requirements
Your company can apply if it:
- Builds and brings to market a truly innovative technology or business model
- Has the potential for major, long-term positive impact on society or the planet
- Has raised at least Series A funding (reported as at least US$10 million)
- Is less than 10 years old
- Is independent and privately held
The programme is open to startups worldwide, including companies based in Nigeria and across Africa. However, it suits growth-stage companies, not idea-stage startups.

Application Deadline
Applications close on January 31, 2027. Even so, the form asks for detailed company information, so give yourself plenty of time.
