Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship 2027: Study, Lead and Build Your Future

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship 2027 supports high-achieving students from the Middle East and North Africa who want to begin undergraduate studies in Lebanon. The U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative sponsors the programme, which combines university education with leadership development.

Applications for the 2027–2028 academic year are open. However, candidates must submit their applications by 18 November 2026.

Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship 2027 benefits

The programme offers more than an undergraduate placement. It also helps students build leadership skills, prepare for university life, and join a regional network of young leaders.

Selected students can receive:

  • Undergraduate study opportunities at the American University of Beirut or Lebanese American University.
  • Leadership training and development activities.
  • A pre-departure orientation and leadership workshop before travel.
  • Guidance through the university consideration process.
  • Support for TOEFL and SAT testing for applicants who pass the interview stage.
  • An eight-week online English intensive for some conditionally admitted applicants with lower TOEFL or IELTS scores.
  • Academic and professional connections with other students and Tomorrow’s Leaders alumni.

However, Applicants submit one Tomorrow’s Leaders application. They do not need to send a separate application to the partner universities.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of one of the eligible locations:

  • Algeria
  • Egypt
  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Libya
  • Morocco
  • Syria
  • Tunisia
  • West Bank or Palestinian students living legally in a third country
  • Yemen

In addition, applicants must:

  • Be a current high school senior or have graduated from high school in 2026.
  • Be a 2025 high school graduate only if they are from Iraq, Libya, Syria, the West Bank, or Yemen, subject to the programme’s residency rules.
  • Show strong academic performance.
  • Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and leadership potential.
  • Have strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Meet the English-language requirement, including a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 4.0 on the new 1–6 scale or 80 on the former 0–120 scale, received within two years of the programme start date.
  • Be ready to travel and begin university in August 2027.

Therefore, U.S. citizens and U.S. lawful permanent residents cannot apply. Current high school seniors must also keep strong grades and pass their final school-leaving examination.

Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship 2027 study options

Students can choose from approved undergraduate programmes at two partner universities in Lebanon. Available fields include business, science, technology, economics, mathematics, and design.

At the American University of Beirut, options include agribusiness, biology, business administration, chemistry, computer science, data science, economics, food science and management, and mathematics.

At the Lebanese American University, students can pursue programmes such as bioinformatics, biology, accounting, banking and finance, international business, information technology management, management, marketing, chemistry, computer science, economics, graphic design, and mathematics.

         

Programme deadline

Submit your application by 18 November 2026. The programme will review applications in December 2026. Then, shortlisted candidates may receive interview invitations in January 2027.

Applicants who progress beyond the interview stage may receive support for TOEFL and SAT testing from February through April 2027. Partner universities will begin issuing conditional offers from May to July 2027. Finally, accepted scholars will attend orientation and travel for the August 2027 academic start.
