Ten founders will pitch on the main stage in Uyo, and ₦10 million is up for grabs. Best of all, the prize money is equity-free and applying costs nothing. Read on to see if you qualify.

About the Akwa Ibom Tech Week 2026 Pitch Competition

Akwa Ibom Tech Week 2026 runs from November 2 to 7. The theme is “Scaling the Frontier: From Homegrown Innovation to Global Markets.” As part of the week, the pitch competition gives ten startups a stage to show what they have built. The jury wants companies with real customers and a clear path to growth, in Nigeria and beyond.

Benefits of the Startup Pitch Competition

Finalists will get:

  • A share of ₦10 million in equity-free cash prizes for the top three
  • Five minutes on the main stage before investors, corporate leaders and the Tech Week audience
  • A pitch coaching session before the final
  • Introductions to the judges and partner investors
  • Delegate passes for the whole Tech Week
  • Written feedback from the jury after the final

The prizes are shared as follows:

  • First prize: ₦5,000,000
  • Second prize: ₦3,000,000
  • Third prize: ₦2,000,000

Who Can Apply? Eligibility for the Akwa Ibom Pitch Competition

Your startup must meet all four of these rules:

  • It is based in Akwa Ibom State, or based elsewhere in Nigeria but already operates in the state (for example, through customers, staff, an office or a pilot)
  • It has a launched product that real customers or users already use
  • It is at pre-seed or seed stage
  • At least one founder can be in Uyo for the final on November 3

Moreover, startups from every sector are welcome. However, startups based in Akwa Ibom will get preference. Each startup may send only one application.

What You Need to Apply

  • A pitch deck in PDF, no more than 15 slides and 10MB
  • A 60-second founder video on YouTube or Google Drive that anyone with the link can view
  • Your latest traction figures: customers or users, monthly revenue and growth

Application Deadline and Timeline

Applications close on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 11:59pm WAT. After that, the process runs like this:

  • October 26–28: Reviewers score entries and invite 20 startups to a 15-minute call
  • October 29: Ten finalists are told by email. Every applicant hears the outcome by this date.
  • October 30: Finalists confirm by noon and join an online coaching session
  • November 3: The final in Uyo. Each finalist pitches for 5 minutes and takes 5 minutes of questions. Winners are named the same day.

Note that the final is in person only. Also, finalists pay their own travel and hotel costs.

How to Apply for the Akwa Ibom Tech Week Pitch Competition

First, read the official competition page. Next, prepare your pitch deck, video and traction numbers. Then, fill in the official application form. It takes about 15 minutes, and you can save a draft. For questions, email [email protected].

Tips to Win the Judges Over

Traction carries the most weight, at 25%. Next come problem and market (20%), then product, business model and team (15% each). Finally, the pitch and Q&A count for 10%. So:

  • Lead with your numbers and show the proof behind them.
  • Explain the problem and the size of your market in plain words.
  • Practise until your pitch fits five minutes.
