Have you planted trees, restored a wetland, helped your community recover from a flood or started a school garden? Climate KIC is looking for 100 DesirMED Climate Ambassadors to share their climate action stories and join a network of changemakers. Applications are open until December 31, 2026.
Please note: this is a volunteer, story-sharing role. It does not offer a grant, salary or travel funding. The call focuses on Mediterranean communities in Europe.
About DesirMED and the Climate Ambassador Programme
DesirMED is a European Union initiative that helps people in Mediterranean regions adapt to climate change, such as heatwaves, droughts, wildfires, floods and coastal erosion. Climate KIC, Europe’s leading climate innovation agency and an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), runs the Climate Ambassador call.
The idea is simple: real climate action often starts with ordinary people. By sharing their stories, ambassadors inspire others and spread practical solutions.
Benefits of Becoming a Climate Ambassador
- Your story featured on DesirMED, an official EU platform
- Membership of a community of 100 changemakers to exchange ideas and learn from each other
- Visibility for your local climate work
- Chances to take part in DesirMED and Climate KIC events, including upcoming Adaptation Festivals and Exhibitions in Greece, Spain and Cyprus
Event participation is not described as funded, so you may need to cover your own travel.
Who Can Apply?
The call is for individuals passionate about climate and nature solutions, with a focus on Mediterranean communities. You might be a good fit if you have:
- Mobilised people to plant trees or green your neighbourhood
- Protected dunes, a beach or a coastline
- Restored a small wetland or local habitat
- Helped your community after a fire, flood or drought
- Made practical changes such as rainwater harvesting or building a school garden
