EIDU is hiring a Learning Data Analyst, Head of Research and Head of Measurement and Evaluation: full-time permanent roles, Kenya and Nigeria preferred Rolling deadline

EIDU, the education nonprofit behind a digital learning platform used in public schools in Kenya and Nigeria, is hiring for three full-time, permanent roles in its Impact team: Learning Data Analyst, Head of Research and Head of Measurement & Evaluation. The location is flexible: EIDU prefers candidates based in Kenya, Nigeria, Germany or India, but is open to other locations.

No closing date is published, and applications are reviewed as they come in. If you’re interested, apply soon.

About EIDU

EIDU (registered in Germany as EIDU e.V.) works with governments to strengthen public education at scale. Its platform delivers proven literacy and numeracy lessons and supports learners, teachers, education officers and ministry staff within national school systems.

  • EIDU works with 41 governments and expects to reach 1,000,000 active learners in Kenya and Nigeria in 2026.
  • Its learner numbers have doubled every year for the past five years.
  • A randomised controlled trial found a 0.53 standard deviation improvement in learning outcomes. That puts EIDU in the top 10% of education interventions in low- and middle-income countries.

The Three Open Roles at a Glance

Role Level Experience Key skills
Learning Data Analyst Mid to senior Not stated (one job board suggests 5–10 years) SQL, Python, experiment design, causal inference
Head of Research Senior leadership 8+ years, plus a PhD or advanced degree Impact evaluations, research leadership, publications
Head of Measurement & Evaluation Senior leadership 8+ years, plus an advanced degree M&E systems, EGRA/EGMA, dashboards, data quality

1. Learning Data Analyst

This role answers one question: what in EIDU’s learner and teacher data drives learning outcomes, and what should change next?

What you’ll do:

  • Link app usage, dosage, coverage and progression to learning outcomes.
  • Work out where the programme works and where it doesn’t, and recommend the next product or programme change.
  • Design and analyse experiments from start to finish, including randomisation, power calculations and causal analysis.
  • Between experiments, run funnel, cohort and fidelity analyses to find what to test next.
  • Work with the Ops/BI Analyst on dashboards and reporting.
  • Work with EIDU’s tools: Redshift, Metabase and dbt.

What you need:

  • Strong SQL and Python, and experience with large, messy event-level data
  • Practical statistics: experimental design, power analysis and causal inference
  • A track record of turning messy data into clear, useful analysis
  • Some grounding in learning science, whether formal or practical
  • The ability to explain results clearly to non-technical colleagues

EIDU says this role probably isn’t for you if you want to build production ML models or pipelines, only want to own dashboards, need clean data before you start, or want a large analytics team around you.

2. Head of Research

You’ll build EIDU’s ability to run rigorous, responsive education research and turn the evidence into programme decisions.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and lead research studies and impact evaluations on literacy, numeracy and transition outcomes.
  • Develop research protocols that suit different cultures and regions, and meet high ethical and quality standards.
  • Turn findings into practical recommendations, reports, technical briefs and evidence summaries.
  • Lead and mentor the research team, and manage relationships with research institutions and evaluation partners.
  • Represent EIDU at conferences and working groups, and support fundraising and communications with evidence.
  • Work closely with the Head of Measurement & Evaluation and the Chief Impact Officer.

What you need:

  • A PhD or advanced degree in social sciences, data science or education
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • A record of running applied research projects. Experience winning research funding is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills
  • Excellent communication in a multicultural setting, and comfort working in a fast-changing start-up

Apply for Head of Research

3. Head of Measurement & Evaluation

You’ll build and run the systems that let EIDU measure what’s happening in its programmes, from daily usage data to learning outcomes, and make sure teams use that data.

What you’ll do:

  • Design measurement tools, including EGRA/EGMA-style literacy and numeracy assessments, surveys and usage data pipelines.
  • Build an organisation-wide M&E framework with clear KPIs and outcomes.
  • Set data quality standards and run a QA tracking and early-warning system.
  • Choose and manage data collection and BI tools, and build dashboards that non-specialists can use.
  • Help programme, government and country teams use data to learn, adapt and report to donors.
  • Keep indicators consistent across 41+ government partnerships and several countries.
  • Lead and mentor the M&E team.

What you need:

  • An advanced degree in M&E, statistics, data science, social sciences or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Experience designing and running M&E systems at scale, ideally in education and in low- and middle-income countries
  • Skill with SQL, R, Python, Power BI or similar tools, and with mobile data collection tools
  • Strong facilitation and capacity-building skills

Apply for Head of Measurement & Evaluation

Eligibility

  • Open to candidates of any nationality who meet the role requirements.
  • Kenya, Nigeria, Germany or India are preferred locations, but EIDU will discuss others.
  • All roles are full-time and permanent.

Benefits

  • Work on one of the world’s biggest problems: making sure every child gets a good education.
  • An international team based in Kenya, Germany and Nigeria.
  • An open culture where feedback is welcome.
  • Flexible working hours and holidays.
  • Permanent contracts.

Salaries aren’t published.

How to Apply

  1. Choose the role that fits your experience. You can see all openings on EIDU’s official careers page.
  2. Click “Apply for this job” on the posting.
  3. Upload your CV and fill in the online form.
  4. Submit soon, as there’s no published deadline and roles may close once filled.

Application Tips

  • Show your impact in numbers. For example: “designed an RCT across 200 schools” or “built an M&E dashboard used by 5 state teams”.
  • Highlight work in African education systems. Experience with Kenyan or Nigerian government programmes, EGRA/EGMA or foundational learning is very relevant.
  • For the analyst role, mention specific experiments you’ve designed and the tools you used (SQL, Python, dbt).
  • For the head roles, show that you’ve led teams, published or presented research, and helped non-technical colleagues use data.
