Every week OpportunityLab publishes dozens of scholarships, fellowships, grants, internships and jobs. Many of them have rules about who can apply: your nationality, where you live, your age, your level of study. Until now you had to open each post to find out whether it was for you.
Today we are launching the OpportunityLab Portal: an account that shows you only the opportunities you can actually apply for, ranked by your own goals. Every new account starts with 21 days of VIP free.
How it works
- Create a free account at app.opportunitylab.net with your email and a password.
- Answer a few quick questions: your nationality and country of residence, your year of birth, your education or career level, your field, what you are looking for (scholarships, fellowships, grants, jobs and more), and whether you want to take part as a participant or as a mentor, judge or expert.
- Tell us your goals in your own words: what you want right now, and where you want to be in two to five years.
- See your matches. Your feed lists the open opportunities you are eligible for, with the ones that best serve your goals first.
What you get
- Only what fits you. Opportunities you can’t apply for, because of your country, age or level, are left out.
- A reason on every match, for example “Open to citizens of Nigeria · Ages 18–35 · Master’s level”, so you can check it yourself.
- Ranked by your goals (VIP): each match gets a one-line note on how it serves your goals, tagged “Right now” or “Long-term goal”, with filters for each. Opportunities from strong organisers such as the Mastercard Foundation, UN agencies and leading universities get extra weight when they fit.
- Ask about your matches (VIP): chat with the portal: “What should I apply for this week?”, “Am I eligible for this scholarship?”, “Are there any calls for mentors I could apply to?”. Answers come from the opportunities you qualify for, with links to each one.
- A feed that learns from you: the more you open, save or mark opportunities “not for me”, the more your feed moves the kinds you keep choosing to the top, and it tells you why, for example “You often open and save grants”. You can see and clear what it has learned on your Profile page.
- Mentor and expert roles: experienced professionals can also see calls for mentors, judges and facilitators, such as the Young Africa Innovates Call for Experts.
- A deadline countdown, such as “Closes in 3 days”, so nothing slips past.
- Filters (VIP): only want scholarships today? Filter by type, full funding, closing soon, online, or search by keyword.
- Save for later (VIP), and keep a list of the opportunities you plan to apply for.
- “Also worth checking”: opportunities that don’t list their eligible countries are never hidden. They appear in a separate list so you can check the details.
- Works on any phone, light enough for slow connections. Nothing to install.
Every opportunity in the portal is one we have already checked against its official page and published here on OpportunityLab, with the same full details and the link to apply, from the Gates Foundation AI Fellows Program to the Young Africa Innovates Call for Experts.
Free and VIP
- 21 days of VIP free for every new account. No card needed.
- Free: after the trial, your top 5 matches and top 5 “worth checking”, each with the reason it fits and the deadline.
- VIP: ₦5,000 a month if you live in Nigeria, ₦13,500 a month (about $10) everywhere else, charged in naira and converted by your bank. Every match, ranked by your goals, with filters, saving and Ask. Pay securely with Paystack and cancel any time.
Your data stays yours
- We only ask what we need to match you. Gender, work experience, business stage and your goals are optional. If you write goals, VIP ranking uses Claude, an AI model by Anthropic, with your goals and profile answers but never your name or email.
- We don’t sell or share your profile with the organisations behind the opportunities.
- What you open, save or hide is only used to order your own feed, counts for less over time, and is deleted after a year.
- You stay in control: change your answers at any time, and delete your account and data from your Profile page.

Is the OpportunityLab Portal free?
Every new account gets 21 days of VIP free. After that, seeing your top 5 matches stays free. VIP, which shows every match with filters and saving, costs ₦5,000 a month if you live in Nigeria and ₦13,500 (about $10) a month elsewhere. You can cancel any time.
Do I still apply through OpportunityLab?
No. As always, you apply directly with the organiser. The portal helps you find the opportunities that fit you, and each one links to the full post and the official application page.
What if an opportunity doesn’t say who can apply?
We never hide it. It appears under “Also worth checking” so you can read the details and decide.
Can I change my answers?
Yes. Edit your profile at any time and your matches update straight away.
How do I cancel VIP?
From the VIP page in the portal. VIP stays on until the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from your Profile page. Your portal profile, saved items and reports are deleted.
