The Global Campus of Human Rights is inviting youth-focused human rights organisations to join its AI for Human Rights (AI4HR) Peer-learning Programme 2027. Over six months, each organisation is paired with an NGO experienced in using AI for human rights, to explore how AI could support work such as documenting violations, analysing information or strengthening advocacy. Participants also attend a funded workshop in Venice, Italy.

Only five organisations will be chosen. Organisations in Global Majority countries, including Africa, are particularly welcome. Applications close on 4 November 2026.

Deadline 4 November 2026

How the Programme Works

  • Your organisation is paired with an AI-expert NGO that shares experience and practical guidance for six months.
  • You choose the focus: documenting violations, analysing information, advocacy or something else.
  • Online webinars and workshops run about once a month.
  • Your AI-expert partner visits your organisation once in spring 2027 for hands-on support.
  • All participants attend a workshop in Venice on 25–26 February 2027 to share experiences and build networks.

Benefits

  • Six months of tailored mentoring on using AI in human rights work
  • Flights and accommodation covered for the Venice workshop
  • An in-person visit from an experienced AI and human rights NGO
  • A network of youth human rights organisations and AI practitioners
  • Practical understanding of the opportunities and risks of AI in your context

Eligibility

  • You’re a youth-focused human rights organisation: youth-led, or working mainly with and for young people aged 15 and over.
  • No previous AI experience is needed. Curiosity and a clear idea of what you want to learn matter more.
  • You can nominate 1–2 representatives who can commit to the six-month programme in English, host the expert visit, and attend the Venice workshop.
  • Organisations in Global Majority countries are particularly welcome.

What the Application Asks For

  • Your organisation’s name, country and scope, plus links to your website or social media
  • Your work with young people (max 300 words)
  • What you want to learn or test with AI, and why it matters (max 300 words)
  • Why the programme matters to your youth work, and any AI ideas you already have (max 200 words)
  • The names, titles, work emails and CVs of 1–2 representatives
  • Confirmation that you can commit to all activities

How to Apply

  1. Prepare your answers and your representatives’ CVs.

Tips for African Organisations

  • Be concrete. For example: “We want to use AI to sort and verify reports of police abuse submitted by young people via WhatsApp.”
  • Show your youth focus with numbers: the young people you reach, the programmes you run and your youth leadership.
  • Check your passport and visa needs for Italy (Schengen) early. The workshop is in late February.
