What Is the Team Europe Youth Sounding Board (YSB)?
The Youth Sounding Board (YSB) is a flagship EU initiative that gives young people a genuine voice in European Union activities in Zimbabwe. Comprising 25 dynamic volunteers, the YSB represents the diverse perspectives of Zimbabwean youth—from rural to urban communities, including people with disabilities.
Members serve for two years and collaborate with the EU Delegation and EU Member State Embassies to advise on programs, strategies, and projects that impact young people directly. The Board’s work focuses on vital areas such as:
- Climate-smart agriculture
- Green economic growth
- Human development
- Good governance and human rights
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment
Through continuous engagement, the YSB ensures that EU initiatives truly reflect the aspirations and realities of Zimbabwe’s young generation.
Why the EU Launched the 2026–2028 Cohort
The European Union has long been a champion of youth participation and inclusion. By launching the 2026–2028 Team Europe YSB, the EU strengthens its commitment to ensuring that young people are not just beneficiaries, but active partners in shaping Zimbabwe’s development agenda.
The new cohort will build on previous successes—helping refine EU projects, monitoring their real-world impact, and driving community-level change through youth perspectives.
In short: This program ensures that the voices of Zimbabwe’s youth influence decisions that affect their future.

Commitment and Support

Although the role is not remunerated, the EU covers all reasonable expenses—ensuring every member can fully participate regardless of their financial background. This approach reflects the EU’s dedication to inclusivity and equal opportunity. Unlike many youth engagement programs, the Team Europe YSB doesn’t just listen, it acts. Members directly shape the EU’s development priorities, ensuring that youth needs are reflected in real policy decisions.
Furthermore, the YSB promotes gender balance, inclusion, and representation across all Zimbabwean provinces. This makes it one of the most diverse youth advisory structures in the country.
