 The cgeb-sawbp-phd-fellowship-2025 South African Women in Biotechnology Programme SAWBP – PhD Fellowship 2025 is now open for applications. This prestigious opportunity, developed in partnership with the South African Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), has been designed to empower and support South African women researchers in pursuing PhD degrees in Biotechnology.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility is strictly for:

  • South African women only
  • South African citizens or permanent residents holding a valid South African ID
  • Priority will be given to Black and disabled applicants

Additionally, applicants must hold an MSc degree or provide evidence of intention to submit their MSc thesis. Before the fellowship commences, official proof of degree completion is mandatory.
