Backed by NHS England (NHSE), this scholarship supports internationally trained sonographers in earning a PgCert in Clinical Ultrasound—a recognized pathway toward clinical excellence and UK-level accreditation. Selected candidates will receive:

  • Full tuition coverage for part-time PgCert Clinical Ultrasound (worth up to £11,933 for international students)
  • Support in creating a personalized, evidence-based clinical portfolio
  • Opportunities to contribute to research and mentorship for future applicants
  • Eligibility to join the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT)

Who Can Apply?

To qualify, you must be:

  • An internationally qualified sonographer recruited by NHSE or already working in the NHS (non-obstetrics focus)
  • In possession of a confirmed NHS clinical placement starting from September 2025 (minimum 14 hours/week)
  • Able to meet King’s English Language Requirements and provide supporting documents, including:
    • Personal statement and UK proficiency gap analysis
    • Proof of qualifications and relevant registrations
    • Two references, including one from your NHS employer
    • A memorandum of agreement from your placement provider

Importantly, applicants should select the PGCert Clinical Ultrasound on King’s Apply and use the funding code ‘US2025’ under the scholarship section.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted via the King’s Apply platform.

Note that there is no separate scholarship application; you simply indicate interest during the course application. A non-refundable fee of £85 applies.

Following application review, shortlisted candidates will be invited to:

  • A 30-minute virtual interview
  • An optional workshop and in-person exam for those seeking prior learning recognition

Final scholarship decisions will be announced by September 1st, 2025.
