The African Leadership Centre (ALC) is proud to announce its call for applications for the 2025/2026 academic year. These competitive and impactful Peace, Security & Development Fellowships and Associate Fellowships are designed to develop the next generation of transformative leaders across Africa and the Global South.

With academic partnerships at King’s College London and operations headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the ALC is on a mission to build a value-driven, intergenerational community capable of driving a new agenda for peace and security in Africa.

Fellowship Opportunities for 2025/2026

The ALC is offering three fellowship tracks for the upcoming academic year:


1. Peace, Security & Development Fellowships for African Scholars

(Degree-Awarding | Fully Funded)

Overview:

This prestigious 18-month fellowship is designed for emerging African scholars aiming to influence the discourse and practice around peace, security, and development.

Key Features:

  • Fully funded, excluding visa costs
  • Combines an MSc in Global Leadership and Peacebuilding at King’s College London
  • Includes a 6-month attachment at a leading African university or organization
  • Offers robust mentorship, simulation sessions, and institutional visits
  • Builds a strong network of peace and security professionals

Ideal Candidate:

  • Young African scholar affiliated with a research or academic institution
  • Passionate about shaping Africa’s peace and development agenda
  • Committed to ALC values of inclusivity, equity, and transformation

2. Associate Fellowships Bursaries for African Students in Peace, Security & Development

(Degree-Awarding | Partial Funding)

Overview:

Designed for African students admitted to the MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding program at King’s College London, this fellowship supports future African leaders working in security and development.

Support Includes:

  • 25% tuition bursary at King’s College London
  • £5,000 contribution towards living expenses in London
  • Full participation in ALC’s mentoring, simulation, and institutional modules
  • Optional 6-month paid attachment at a university or regional center in Africa

Eligibility Criteria:

  • African nationality
  • Admitted to MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding
  • Proven commitment to leadership and peacebuilding in Africa

3. Associate Fellowships in Global Leadership & Peacebuilding for the Global South

(Degree-Awarding | Partial Funding)

Overview:

This opportunity is open to students from the Global South applying for the MSc at King’s College London. It aims to advance peace, security, and development leadership beyond the African continent.

What’s Included:

  • 25% tuition fee bursary
  • £5,000 towards living expenses
  • Post-degree internship option at an international or regional institution
  • Access to ALC’s tailored mentoring and leadership curriculum

Eligibility:

  • Citizenship of a Global South country (See full list here)
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to peacebuilding
  • Willingness to participate fully in the ALC learning ecosystem
