African Young Women Leaders Fellowship 2025: Applications are open. The African Young Women Leaders (AfYWL) Fellowship Programme 2025, a collaboration between the African Union Commission (AUC) and UNDP, is now open for applications. This prestigious 12-month fellowship places up to 40 outstanding young African women in strategic UNDP offices in New York and across regional and country locations.

Through immersive assignments, African Young Women Leaders Fellowship fellows gain real-world experience advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the African Young Women Leaders Fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be female and a citizen of an African Union member state
  • Be 30 years old or younger
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Have no more than two years of paid post-grad experience
  • Be fluent in English (other AU languages are a plus)
  • Be willing to relocate for 12 months, starting late 2025
