The AAAWE TAP Mentoring Program 2026 is now open for applications. Organized by the Think Africa Partnership (TAP) of the World Bank in collaboration with the Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE), this virtual initiative supports African women economists residing in Africa and the diaspora.
The AAAWE TAP Mentoring Program will run from March 2026 to November 2026, providing structured mentorship, research guidance, and professional development opportunities.
About the AAAWE TAP Mentoring Program
The AAAWE TAP Mentoring Program 2026 is designed to strengthen research capacity, career advancement, and academic networking among African women economists.
Participants will:
- Be matched with mentors based on research interests
- Meet mentors at least six times
- Participate in small research discussion groups
- Receive feedback on research papers
- Learn strategies for publishing and grant applications
- Develop networking skills
- Explore work-life balance in academia
Some mentees may also attend the Southern Economics Association (SEA) Conference in Houston (Nov 21–23, 2026).
Those who complete all program requirements will receive a certificate of participation.
